Hi guys, now that we've been out of the water for a month, it's time to think about ways to stay in shape and continue to get better with swimming.
The first and best option if you're not participating in another sport is to join club swimming. Some of you already do this, but if you don't our local option is the Barracuda swim club. I know that the time and money commitment scares some people off. They are offering some different options in regards to different levels of the time/money commitment including full participation for 8 week sessions in the mornings 4-5x per week for 2 hours over the next 4 months, or high school maintenance doing 3 90 minute practices/wk in the evening at Oak Grove. Please see the Barracuda website for additional information on joining.

If this was as clear as mud, please contact Paula Lee and ask the question you have. The more guys doing this the more fun you'll have. I want to be clear that I am not in any way mandating you do this - I'm just letting you know what's available.
There are other options if those don't work that you can check out.
I would also include some sort of dryland. I've shared my weight workout spreadsheet. It has 6 different options and by no means includes everything. I would recommend starting with something you can really commit to rather than doing the longer, more complicated ones and then getting discouraged and stopping altogether. In other words, maybe start with 3 days and then go to 4 if you've managed 3. I know we do weights during our season, but the time to really get the most out of it is the off-season (if you're not swimming during all or part of the nine month away from our team). If you have questions about any of this let me know.
